Veteran Benefits

Ciel Senior Living offers a discount of $150 off rent per month for veterans in addition to VA benefits for those who qualify

At Ciel Senior Living, we honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans, and we are committed to assisting them in accessing the benefits they rightfully deserve. That’s why we’ve partnered with Patriot Angels – an organization dedicated to connecting veterans and their families with the support they need to cover their long-term care and more.

Advocating for Your Well-Deserved Benefits

Many veterans and their families are unaware of the range of benefits available to them. Patriot Angels takes the initiative to ensure that your loved ones receive the care and assistance they deserve. As a United States wartime veteran or spouse, you have the opportunity to earn up to several thousand dollars per month, completely tax-free, to support your senior living expenses. This financial assistance, known as the Aid and Attendance benefit, is provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a way to honor your wartime service.

Am I eligible for Veteran Aid and Attendance?

The Department of Veteran Affairs offers a special benefit to war-era veterans and their surviving spouses called Aid and Attendance.
The Aid and Attendance program is a tax-free benefit that provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of long-term care. This applies to care provided in your home, an assisted living community or a nursing home.
The benefit is for veterans and surviving spouses who require regular attendance of another person or caregiver in at least two daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, etc.

You may be eligible for VA health care benefits if…

  • You served in the active military, naval, or air service and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge.
  • If you enlisted after September 7, 1980, or entered active duty after October 16, 1981
  • Unless any of the descriptions below are true, you must have served 24 continuous months or the full period for which you were called to active duty.
    • This minimum duty requirement may not apply if any of these are true:
      • You were discharged for a disability that was caused—or made worse—by your active-duty service, or
      • You were discharged for a hardship or “early out,” or
      • You served before September 7, 1980

If you’re a current or former member of the Reserves or National Guard:

  • You must have been called to active duty by a federal order and completed the full period for which you were called or ordered to active duty. If you had or have active-duty status for training purposes only, you don’t qualify for VA health care.

If you served in certain locations and periods during the Vietnam War era:

  • You are eligible for VA health care.
