When It’s Time to Consider Senior Living

What are the signs that assisted living or memory care might be a good option?

  • Mobility issues – difficulty with daily activities or frequent falls and other safety concerns
  • Memory loss – misplacing items or wandering away from home
  • Medication concerns – forgetting to take mediations as prescribed
  • Lack of socialization – not interacting as usual; untidy surroundings; and personal hygiene
  • Fear & depression – unwilling to seek medical help or assistance; withdrawal from others
  • Lack of appetite – not receiving proper nutrition throughout the day

What are the options for my loved one?

RESIDENCY – offers 24-hour residential accommodations in a senior-friendly setting. A private or semi-private apartment, three restaurant style meals each day, medication reminders, and a full complement of activities are available. Each resident will receive a personalized care plan to meet his or her individualized needs and ongoing assessments are conducted to monitor and adjust care as needed.

RESPITE CARE – offers all the accommodations of Residency, but for a shorter period of time. The caregiver-care receiver relationship can be both rewarding and taxing. Respite care provides a welcome break to relax and rejuvenate for both parties. For the caregiver, a brief respite is essential for good physical and mental health. As a care receiver, you are one of our Very Important Guests anytime you visit, whether your stay is for a week or longer. You will be warmly invited into our family by dedicated caregivers and friendly residents.

What does this mean to me?

Seniors often improve through socialization, regular diet, and medication management, as well as relieving the burden they feel they have placed on their families. You are free to resume the relationship of the past and enjoy the company of your loved one without the worry of providing for their needs. While many places can meet a resident’s everyday needs, Ciel focuses on enriching every day of each resident’s life, nourishing the mind, body and spirit.

Caring for a loved one

Most family members and caregivers are proud of the help they provide to a loved one and most have a positive feeling about caregiving. Yet caring for a loved one in their declining years poses special challenges. Individuals require increasing levels of supervision and personal care, and many caregivers experience high levels of stress and negative effects to their health, employment, income and financial security.
